AYSEGUL TUREMEN
Born in 1966 in Istanbul, Ayşegül Türemen studied French Literature at University of 9 Eylul in Izmir after graduating at Izmir Private Turk College.
Having begun her initial career working for an advertising agency, after a while she decided that it was the time to make some changes in her career, as well as personal life, and subsequently attended Mehmet Kabash’s jewellery design studio during 1988 where she learned to apply casting and lost wax modelling techniques. She loves to participate in different kind of jewellery technique workshops held by the Foundation of Glass Furnace from time to time.
She has been designing jewellery and object since 1999 in her own studio shop called “ATELIER MAYA” where she combines silver, bronze and gold with many other different kinds of materials such as; precious and semiprecious stones, epoxy, enamel, felt, wood, glass, leather and ceramics. Inspirations of her collections are mainly based on themes of nature and spiritual signs that are a part of our simple day-to-day lives. Her simple and timeless designs allow for flexible usage in everyday life.
