BEYHAN AKMAN

Having lived in Canakkale, Turkey until 2001, Beyhan Fidan Akman created her collection named “REFLECTIONS ON METAL” where she used a piercing technique on bronze plates to design jewelry. She took part in several cultural and art
festivals as well as her own personal exhibitions with her work on display.
She moved to Istanbul after 2001 and worked with master of arts and crafts Nurhan Acun, who is also a jewelry designer. She participated in the exhibitions that were organized by him with her work called “Ottoman Emperor Seals,” in which she used piercing technique, that was also on display at the Hagia Sophia Museum in the “Ottoman Objects” exhibition and in Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilizations together with Nurhan Acun’s pieces.
After receiving a wire wrapped jewelry piece as a gift from the United States in 2004, she started working with wire wrapping and has been designing and creating jewelry by piercing metal and wire wrapping since then. She is still designing jewelry at her studio located at the Aznavur Passage on Istiklal Street in Istanbul.
